The Unbound

Stone Art Gallery, Zhengzhou, China

The exhibition focuses on the creative practices of contemporary young artists, exploring themes rooted in Eastern philosophy, such as ‘art without dependency’ and ‘coexistence with nature’ through diverse media. It presents an immersive artistic feast that transcends the boundaries of the material and the spiritual.

The exhibition inspiration from the ‘Unbound State’ described in Zhuangzi’s Free and Easy Wandering. The exhibition conveys the idea of breaking free from dependency and pursuing spiritual freedom and renewal. Centred on the theme of wandering, the curatorial team threads this concept through the artists’ works. The exhibition uses ‘the pursuit of freedom and open-mindedness’ as its core, and is divided into three sections: Primal Cosmos, Spiritual Roaming, and The Triple Birth of Emptiness. It features various artistic forms including ink painting, oil painting, installation, performance, video, and photography, crafting a contextual narrative around the idea of being ‘unbound’.
